It's Sundress + Sneaker Season
True story: I used to hate wearing dresses.
When I was younger, I was a skinny thing. But as soon as puberty hit, genetics hit. My legs went from scrawny legs to tree stumps. I hate that description but that’s the phrase an ex once used to describe my legs. I’ll never forget that. While I’m not as curvy as the other beautiful women I’ve seen, my thighs, calves and ankles are not the most slender and graceful looking. But as you can see from these pictures, I’ve gotten over that. I actually think my legs are one of my favorite body parts. They’re strong, keep me moving, soft, meaty, and remind me of my mom. They also have the flaws and imperfections that remind me that I’m a woman that isn’t achieving perfection but rather acceptance and self-love.
So I paired this polka dot dress with my favorite thing to wear: casual sneakers. These adidas sneakers go way back. I found these in the Orlando outlet mall in the men’s section and these just happened to fit me just right. While I LOVE me some bright and colorful sneakers, there’s something about a simple all-white sneaker that just pairs well with just about anything. Jeans, shorts, dresses, skirts, and so on. With the weather being the steamy and hot weather that it is in South Florida, a dress and a pair of sneakers will keep you comfortable while walking through Wynwood, bar hopping from Brick to Wood Tavern to 1-800-Lucky. And if you know that trek, you know it would be really uncomfortable in heels. So sundress and sneaker season is here to stay year-round in my book. Also, a tip for my thick thigh ladies: keep that anti-chafing cream on deck. You know what I mean.
